Victoria Falls
The first wild wonder we are going to learn is The Victoria Falls, a watery wonder, and maybe a wild wonder. It is on the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia. It is located on Africa's Zambezi River. It is around 200 million years old! That's a very old age. This wonderful wonder was discovered by explorer Dr. David Livingstone in 1855. It rises roughly high as a 35- story skyscraper and stretches more than 15 American football fields. This huge size means that it has a lot of water. Many people say that Victoria Falls is the largest waterfall because of its width and height combined. Victoria Falls is an amazing wonder and waterfall. Now, that we have learned about Victoria Falls, lets move onto the next wild one.
Great Barrier Reef

The next one is The Great Barrier Reef. It is located in Australia. It is about 500,000 million years old! That is a long time. The short form of Great Barrier Reef is (GBR). The Great Barrier Reef was discovered by Captain James Cook in 1770. However, Indigenous Australians and Torres Strait Islanders had known about the reef for thousands of years ago. The Great Barrier Reef is home to about 9,000 animal species, a bustling megacity for marine life. It looks like miles of colorful rocks, but it is not. It is made of tiny animals called corals. The reef formed millions of years ago. Coral reefs are formed when corals stick together and make a hard skeleton for sea creatures to live. Today, it's so large that it can be seen from space. Now, that we have cleared the Great Barrier Reef, let's move onto the

The night sky is full of color with streaks of neon green, red, purple and many other beautiful, breathtaking dancing lights of streaks due to the Aurora Borealis. Amazing, right? Well, Auroras was discovered by Kristian Birkeland, a Norwegian physicist who discovered the cause of Aurora in 1899. In 1619, an astronomer saw this beautiful sight Bor
ealis after the Roman goddess of dawn. Aurora and the Greek god of the North Wind, Boreas. People across the Artic were the first people to discover the occurance of the Aurora Borealis. It forms when tiny particles from the sun called ''solar winds'' crash into the Earth's atmosphere near the poles which makes the Aurora happen. The fourth one is
Mount Everest. It is a ''real rock star''. When I say that it is a ''real rock star, it means that it has multiple layers of sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous rocks along with being the tallest point on Earth. It is spanning Nepal and Tibet. It has been worldwide fame for its incredible height. It is the tallest mountain on Earth. It is above the sea level. It first started to take shape about 50 to 60 million years old. Radanath Sikdar, an Indian mathematician and surveyor discovered Mount Everest. It's force is still at work. It pushes the mountain about 0.2 inch, about 4mm higher each year.

The 6th one is The Grand Canyon. It is located in Arizona, U.S.A. This canyon lives up to its name. The last and final wonder is The Paricutan Volcano. It is located in Mexico. A farmer noticed it in 1943 near his cornfield. The volcano unexpectedly came to life. This was an amazing phenomenon.

These wonders were chosen by the news organization CNN. This news organization started to list the world's natural wonders in 1997. Their list became a hit. Since then, other organizations have also created their own list for nature's cool marvels.
